Complicating Narrative

Q While the article “Complicating the Narratives,” is dealing somewhat with journalism and the political problems in our society today, I do believe it has some relevance even with academic argument since you are trying to convince others of your thesis, and some of those readers will be skeptics. After reading the argument, please do the following (you can either attach a word document or copy and paste it into the thread): In one or two paragraphs, summarize the long article (approximately one-half to one page total). (10 pts.) In another paragraph, comment on your thoughts about the article in some detail. Do you agree? Why? Can you give any examples from your own life? If you don’t agree, why? Have you had experience with changing someone else’s mind that didn’t involve “complicating the narrative”? Or do you agree with some parts, but not with others? Why? Give me more information. (5 pts.) Next write a paragraph about how you could apply this idea to the topic of your final essay. How could you complicate your narrative? (Even though, I know, technically, it is an argument!) How could you apply the principles to reach a more skeptical audience? (5 pts.)
